Trévoux
The former capital of the principality of the Dombes region up to 1762, Trévoux is about 20 kilometres North of Lyons. Its uncontested charm comes from its site and its history. This small fallen capital has preserved its treasures at the limits of the Rhône and Ain regions. Its tiny streets lined with buildings dating from the period between the C.15th and C.17th climb up a steep hill as far as the Castle of Byzantine style that towers above the Saône.
The Parlement des Dombes is to be visited for its architecture and its halls. You must stroll in the streets to discover the residences of the members of the old Parlement and stop at the Musée de la Filière ( the Weaving museum) that evokes the times when gold, silver and diamond were woven into the silk made in Lyons.
It is a town in which it is pleasant to wander and eat on the banks of the Saône, a town which is overflowing with activities and life..
